Welcome to the Lycée Français International de l’AFLEC in Dubai.
As a French school accredited from Nursery (Petite Section) through to Year 13 (Terminale), we are deeply committed to the academic excellence and ambition that the French education system offers our students. We draw on the full richness of this system to offer personalised pathways: specialist timetabled classes in theatre and visual arts and a sports section in Middle School (collège), and arts and sports options in High School (lycée). As pioneers in this field, we have pursued an ambitious digital learning policy since 2014, with connected classrooms from Year 5 (CM1) to Year 13.
At the same time, we firmly believe that the heart of our teaching should draw on the very best of every educational tradition. We therefore embrace approaches that allow students to work on projects, to interact and to collaborate with one another as they explore each subject, and together to become active participants in their own learning.
As an international school, we welcome students from all over the world: 61 nationalities from five continents. We teach 7 modern languages and 2 classical languages: alongside French, English and Arabic, students may begin or continue Spanish, Chinese, German and Italian from Middle School onwards – as well as Greek and Latin.
Truly international in outlook, every class from Nursery onwards offers more English than the French system requires, as well as Arabic, the language of our host country. Multilingualism is a strength for the future, and we also offer American International Section classes from Nursery right through to preparation for the Baccalauréat Français International.
Each year, our students go on to the finest schools and universities in France, Canada, England and the United States, as well as in Lebanon and the Emirates – including Sorbonne University Abu Dhabi – and all around the world.
Ours is the only French school in the United Arab Emirates rated Outstanding from Nursery through to Year 13. Our results in the national examinations, the DNB and the BAC, are exceptional, with a particularly high proportion of students achieving distinctions (mentions).
This success is built on an ambitious policy of recruiting, training and supporting our staff. AFLEC has established its own Institute for Professional Development, which provides every teacher with at least 18 hours of training each year, along with targeted training for other staff. A quality-assurance approach led by the senior and middle leadership teams is embedded in the culture of the school.
Finally, the LFI is part of the AFLEC network, a major provider of French education abroad. AFLEC educates nearly one in two students across its 3 French-speaking schools in the Emirates. AFLEC also provides the school with around forty teachers seconded directly from the French Ministry of Education (Éducation Nationale).
Inspired by the dynamism of Dubai, our entire community – leadership team, teachers, administrative and technical staff, students and parents – is delighted to welcome you to the LFI.
